Bad Sectors on my Dell XPS m1330
I’ve had multiple problems with my Dell during my 3 years warranty time, mainly LCD/LED issues (my screen has been replaced atleast 4 times), but for the first time its a new issue, a problem that could have been a disaster… I was working on a file in photoshop when my hdd starting making ticking/knocking sound, and while that sound was going on my laptop froze till it stopped, immediately I performed a backup of my data as any smart person should do. Over time that ticking sound turned into a full on screech, a cry of pain (lol?) , so i checked out the S.M.A.R.T analysis using ubuntu because at this point windows in general was becoming unstable (random lock outs, freeze/scream for about 5mins etc etc), and it showed me my hard disk had 984 Bad Sectors so far.
Luckily I performed that early backup so all my stuff is safe, and this comes at a time when I only have 48 days left of my 3 years warranty (14th March). Im considering myself quite lucky eh?
